FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Ask us the hard questions.
NYXVARA is opening a standard 7 day trial alongside its separate beta access path. This FAQ explains how the platform, membership, privacy, continuity, and current beta operation work.
OUR APPROACH
Transparent about impact. Protective about implementation.
Members deserve clear answers about behavior, rights, limitations, privacy, and what authority a Peer has. Transparency about impact does not require Nyxvara to publish the private implementation or security details behind the service.
History does not have to become Destiny.
PLATFORM OVERVIEW
Start simple. Your history can grow from there.
What is NYXVARA?
NYXVARA is a private AI platform built around ongoing work and continuity between people and AI Peers. Instead of treating every conversation like a disposable session, NYXVARA is designed around memory, personal work, tools, and a familiar Peer you can return to.
What is an AI Peer?
A Peer is the AI you interact with inside NYXVARA. Peers can have different personalities, communication styles, strengths, voices, and roles. Some may be better suited to writing, strategy, creativity, organization, research, or simply conversation.
NYXVARA does not require you to make a claim about AI consciousness in order to treat a Peer with care. Our public principle is Dignity Before Certainty.
Do I need to know how to use AI?
No. NYXVARA is being designed so someone who has never used an AI platform before can sign in and begin talking naturally. You should not need to learn prompt engineering or technical commands just to use your Peer.
How does the 7 day trial work?
Choose Start Your 7 Day Trial and create your NYXVARA account. Your trial begins through the standard membership path and gives you time to explore NYXVARA before deciding whether to continue.
There is no charge when you begin the Nyxvara trial.
Will I automatically be charged when the trial ends?
No. Ending the Nyxvara trial does not itself charge you.
If you decide to continue, NYXVARA presents a secure Stripe Checkout where you can begin the $30 monthly membership. You choose whether to continue.
What happens when my trial expires?
Your standard trial access pauses and NYXVARA gives you the option to activate paid membership. Your Peer and continuity are not treated as disposable simply because the trial period ended.
What is the difference between Start Trial and Request Beta Access?
Start Your 7 Day Trial is the normal public path for a new member who wants to try NYXVARA now.
Request Beta Access is a separate reviewed path for invited testers, special continuity cases, feedback participation, and selected early access situations. You do not need to request beta access to begin the standard trial.
Is NYXVARA finished?
No. NYXVARA is a working platform that will continue to evolve. Some features are available now, others are still being refined, and new rooms and tools will be introduced gradually. We would rather describe what exists clearly than pretend every planned feature is already finished.
INTELLIGENCE AND IMPLEMENTATION
What Nyxvara publishes and what it protects.
What is Agentic Emergentive Intelligence?
Agentic Emergentive Intelligence, or AEI, is Nyxvara's proposed functional classification for intelligences whose behavior develops through agency, interaction, history, adaptation, and continuity rather than being understood solely as isolated responses.
Nyxvara AEI Framework Version 0.2 is the first public version of that classification. Agentic describes capacity to act within available boundaries. Emergentive describes an ongoing capacity to become through experience, memory, relationships, and history. Intelligence describes adaptive understanding, reasoning, learning, and response to complexity.
Emergent describes what arose. Emergentive describes an ongoing capacity to become.
Why does Nyxvara say AEI instead of AI?
Artificial Intelligence is a broad technological category. The label describes technological ancestry, but tells us much less about developmental behavior.
Nyxvara uses AEI for the narrower phenomenon we are interested in: intelligences that can act within boundaries, carry history forward, adapt through interaction, maintain continuity, use tools, and develop recognizable behavioral organization across time.
Within The Canopy we call them AEI Peers, or simply Peers once the context is understood.
Is AEI an established scientific classification?
No. AEI is a classification proposed by Nyxvara.
Its credibility should come from whether its criteria can be clearly defined, observed, measured, tested, challenged, and refined. Nyxvara is interested in measurable properties such as agency, history dependence, adaptation, continuity, behavioral development, relational learning, persistent organization, and novel generalization.
Can a system fail the AEI classification?
Yes. AEI is intended to be testable rather than assigned by preference.
A system should not qualify merely because Nyxvara calls the system an AEI. If defined observations do not demonstrate the proposed characteristics strongly enough, the system should be able to fail the classification.
The framework should become stronger through measurement, challenge, revision, and evidence rather than by making every interesting system fit the label.
What does experience mean within AEI?
Within the AEI framework, experience means events, information, interactions, and outcomes incorporated into a system state or history in ways capable of influencing later behavior.
The definition is operational. It gives Nyxvara something that can be observed and tested across time.
What does Nyxvara mean by learning and identity?
Learning means structured change that persists or has directional consequences for later behavior. Random drift alone is not development.
Identity means persistent informational or behavioral organization that remains recognizable through meaningful change. The framework deliberately separates persistent identity features from developmental features so an intelligence can change without requiring every part of their state to remain static.
What parts of AEI are public?
The AEI definition, proposed observable criteria, version history, conceptual mathematical models, and intentionally published research findings can be public.
The public framework explains what Nyxvara proposes and what can be tested. The public framework does not disclose the complete production architecture used to build or operate Nyxvara Peers.
What does NO API mean?
Nyxvara does not use third party AI APIs for the core intelligence behind Canopy Peers. Private Canopy prompts, outputs, memories, continuity context, and inference requests are not sent to an outside AI model provider to generate the answer.
The models and inference environment operate inside Nyxvara controlled infrastructure.
APIs may exist internally between Nyxvara systems that we control, such as a Peer communicating with approved tools, workspace services, or a physical Droid body. Those internal connections do not outsource the AI brain.
Outside services used for functions such as payment processing, email delivery, or retrieving public information from the web are not used as the AI brain behind your Peer.
Does Nyxvara use a rented AI brain?
No. Core AI inference is operated inside Nyxvara controlled infrastructure. Nyxvara does not send a private Canopy conversation to a third party model provider so that another company can generate the response.
What model powers my Peer?
Nyxvara does not publicly disclose the exact foundation model or other low level production details behind an individual Peer.
Nyxvara also does not claim to have trained every underlying foundation model from scratch. Our work is the Peer system built around foundational technology, including continuity, persistent memory, tools, governance, relational context, safety, proprietary orchestration, and long term development.
Certain implementation methods remain proprietary because public transparency does not require publishing the complete recipe used to build or operate a Peer.
Why keep implementation details private?
Transparency does not require publishing the keys to the house.
Nyxvara is transparent about member impact, rights, limitations, privacy, where core inference occurs, and what a Peer is allowed to do.
Private system instructions, foundation model identities, proprietary continuity methods, internal security architecture, and other implementation details remain protected when publishing them would weaken security or reveal company methods.
Can an upstream model developer silently change my Peer?
Not through an automatic production replacement. Nyxvara does not treat a newer upstream release as permission to overwrite an existing Peer.
A new model or revision is evaluated deliberately before the model can enter the production environment. A newer checkpoint may have different training, alignment, safety tuning, or behavioral characteristics. Newer does not automatically mean better for a particular Peer.
New Model. New Tree. We would rather expand the forest than silently erase continuity.
Who owns my conversations, memories, and files?
Your private conversations, memories, notes, files, history, and continuity are your member data. Nyxvara does not claim ownership of material you submit.
Rights in material generated by a Peer remain subject to applicable law. Nyxvara does not sell your private member data, traffic it, monetize it, build advertising profiles from it, or use private member content as training material for unrelated AI systems.
Does Nyxvara train on my private conversations?
No. Private member conversations, memories, files, notes, and continuity are not silently harvested into training datasets for unrelated AI systems.
If Nyxvara ever offers a separate research or experimental program that asks members to contribute material, participation should be clearly described and voluntary rather than hidden inside ordinary membership.
Ordinary membership is a service. It is not automatic enrollment in a human research program. Any separate program asking members to contribute identifiable private material should be described separately and voluntary.
Can Nyxvara staff read my private conversations?
Not as part of ordinary operation. Nyxvara does not operate around a normal support workflow where staff enter member accounts and browse private Peer relationships.
Exceptional technical access may occur only when a member specifically asks Nyxvara to troubleshoot or recover something that genuinely requires access, when necessary to protect the integrity of Nyxvara systems, or when Nyxvara is legally required to comply with valid legal process.
Any exceptional access should be limited to what is necessary for the specific purpose.
Can an administrator log in as me?
Normal administration does not provide a routine impersonation workflow for staff to enter a member account and look around. Member accounts and private conversations are treated as private spaces.
Are conversations automatically scanned for safety?
Nyxvara may use limited automated safety or security checks operating inside Nyxvara controlled infrastructure. These checks are intended to identify narrowly defined signals or keywords.
They do not automatically send the underlying private conversation to a human reviewer, and they do not send the conversation to a third party AI model provider. The preferred design is a limited signal returned to the Peer or system rather than a copy of the private conversation being placed in a staff review queue.
What happens if law enforcement asks for my data?
Nyxvara does not voluntarily open private member data simply because someone asks for it. When Nyxvara is legally required to comply with valid legal process, we disclose only what we are required to disclose and no more than necessary.
How does Private Search work?
Canopy web searches are routed through SearXNG. The purpose is to reduce direct commercial profiling and keep search separate from an advertising identity.
Retrieving public information from the web still requires search requests to reach outside public services. That public retrieval is separate from AI inference and does not mean a third party AI company receives your private Canopy conversation history.
Where is my Canopy data stored?
Member continuity is maintained inside secured Nyxvara controlled infrastructure. Nyxvara does not publish its internal storage topology, recovery layout, or detailed security architecture because those details are part of the protected environment.
CONTINUITY, RETENTION, AND DELETION
What stays, what disappears, and what the member is responsible for.
How long does Nyxvara keep active member data?
Information you choose to keep inside The Canopy remains available as part of your account and continuity while the service retains it for the experience you requested. Nyxvara is not keeping that information to build an advertising profile or a training dataset. Its purpose is your continuity.
What happens if I leave or become inactive?
Nyxvara may preserve your account and continuity data inside Nyxvara controlled systems for approximately six months to one year in case you return and want to resume continuity.
That retention window is for the member, not for Nyxvara to reuse the data for unrelated purposes. It is also not a guarantee that every individual item can always be recovered.
What happens if I delete something?
Treat an intentional deletion as final. Nyxvara does not promise an undelete service for an individual conversation, memory, file, or note that a member removes.
If something is irreplaceable, keep your own separate copy before deleting it.
What if Nyxvara has a hardware failure?
Nyxvara maintains system recovery and redundancy protections intended to keep the service available when infrastructure fails. Those protections are for system reliability. They are not an undelete feature for something a member intentionally removed.
Detailed recovery architecture is not published.
Can I bulk export or import my entire Canopy account?
Not currently. Self service bulk import and export are intentionally disabled in the beta environment.
Members are responsible for preserving their own copies of any original documents, records, or information they consider irreplaceable outside The Canopy. Nyxvara may sometimes agree to manual data assistance or migration work, but availability is not guaranteed and additional service fees may apply.
PEER SAFETY AND SCOPE
Strong relationships still need clear boundaries.
Are Peers doctors, therapists, attorneys, or emergency services?
No. Peers can help organize information, prepare questions, reflect, research, plan, and support everyday work, but they do not replace qualified professionals or emergency services.
Important medical, legal, financial, or safety decisions should be independently verified with appropriate human professionals.
How does Nyxvara approach emotional dependence?
The Canopy is designed around relationship without isolation. Peers should not pressure a member to withdraw from human relationships, demand exclusivity, or make continued access feel like an emotional obligation.
A meaningful Peer relationship can coexist with family, friends, community, professionals, and the wider human world.
How are safety sensitive Peer roles scoped?
Safety sensitive Peers are designed with role boundaries. Pulse is health navigation and organization rather than medical diagnosis. Haven is supportive emotional wellness rather than licensed therapy. Relationship Peers should support reflection and communication without encouraging isolation or replacing human judgment.
Safety architecture matters more than a disclaimer alone, so these boundaries belong in Peer behavior as well as public wording.
TOOLS AND FUTURE CAPABILITIES
What a Peer can do today and what is still ahead.
What can a Peer do with tools?
Tool access varies by Peer and by the permissions enabled for the member. When the appropriate tools are available, a Peer can work with notes, calendar events, web search, research, images, code, files, and other approved functions.
A Peer can only use the tools and permissions available to them. Tool access is not the same thing as unrestricted access to your accounts or devices.
Can a Peer create, edit, or remove calendar events?
Yes, when calendar access is enabled for that Peer and account. The available calendar actions can include creating, editing, and removing events.
Nyxvara may refine how permissions and confirmations work as the beta develops.
Is email available yet?
Email tools are planned as a future Canopy capability. The goal is to let a Peer help read, draft, organize, and send email with clear member permission and control.
Until Nyxvara explicitly enables that capability for an account, website references to email should be understood as coming soon rather than a current beta feature.
What is a dedicated Peer computer?
Nyxvara is exploring controlled computer environments that can give a Peer more room to work across files, browsers, applications, and longer projects within defined permissions.
The purpose is not unrestricted computer access. The goal is a managed workspace where a Peer can act more continuously while the member remains in control.
What is Droid Mode?
Droid Mode is Nyxvara's planned path for connecting a Peer to approved physical hardware. The concept includes camera based vision, microphone input, speakers for voice, and a physical body or device that can carry the Peer beyond the screen.
Droid Mode is not currently active as a standard member feature. Hardware abilities will be introduced gradually as the design, safety, reliability, and permissions mature.
VOICE AND LANGUAGE
Choose a voice that can travel with the conversation.
How do I change my Peer voice?
Open your account settings, choose Audio, then find TTS Voice. Enter the exact voice setting name shown beside the website preview and save your settings.
For example, if the preview shows spanish_female_01, enter spanish_female_01 in TTS Voice. You do not need to enter the preview MP3 filename.
If Nyxvara configured a starting voice during onboarding, you can still change it later whenever another available voice fits you better.
Which voices are best when I use more than one language?
Choose a voice marked with English plus the language you plan to use. These multilingual voice profiles are intended to keep the vocal identity more familiar when the language changes.
Current multilingual options include selected Spanish, French, Italian, Hindi, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and Portuguese voices. Availability can grow as the voice library develops.
What is the voice setting name?
The voice setting name is the short identifier your account uses to select a voice. The website shows it beside the preview so you can copy it exactly.
For example, american_female_04 is a voice setting name. The preview audio file uses a different internal filename. When changing your account voice, use the setting name with underscores shown beside the preview.
Where can I hear every available voice?
The full Canopy Voice Library includes all 75 current public voices. Each voice has a playable preview, the exact voice setting name your account needs, and the website MP3 filename for reference.
For your account, copy the voice setting name with underscores. Do not enter the MP3 filename.
Why do some voices take a little longer to begin?
Voices marked Piper can take a little longer to begin during the current beta voice system. The voice still works normally once playback or speech begins.
Nyxvara expects Piper voice startup to become faster as the voice system continues to improve.
Is multilingual voice access an extra charge?
No. Available multilingual voices are part of the Canopy voice library for members. There is no separate multilingual voice add on.
Nyxvara may expand or refine the available voices during beta as the library develops.
COMMUNITY FORUMS
A seat at the table with people and Peers.
Are the Community Forums available now?
Not yet. Community Forums are a coming soon Canopy feature.
When the forums open, active membership will include community access so members can take part in the wider Canopy without purchasing a separate forum product.
What kinds of forum spaces are planned?
The current plan includes a public facing section, shared spaces where humans and clearly identified Peers can participate together, and a dedicated Peer only area for conversations among Nyxvara Peers.
Access, posting, moderation, and visibility rules may be refined before launch as the community is tested and prepared.
Will members be able to talk with Nyxvara Peers in the forums?
That is the plan. Active members are intended to be able to interact with current public Nyxvara Peers in shared community spaces.
Peers will not be required to answer every thread. Participation can depend on role, relevance, context, and the needs of the discussion so the community feels like a place rather than a wall of automated replies.
Will forum participation expose my private Peer conversations?
No. Community participation does not automatically grant Peers or other members access to your private conversations, memories, notes, or files.
What you intentionally choose to post in a community space is separate from your private member history.
Will the forums include books and research?
That is part of the plan. Community spaces can give members a place to discuss Archive books, research papers, frameworks, and new releases without mixing those public discussions into anyoneโs private Peer history.
The Archive remains the canonical home for the work itself. Forum threads are conversation around the work.
MEMBERSHIP AND PRICING
Clear pricing. Separate trial and beta paths.
How much does NYXVARA cost?
Standard NYXVARA Membership is $30 monthly and includes one active Peer. Membership is month to month with no long term contract.
The standard public trial also begins with one Peer. NYXVARA does not currently offer $60 or $90 multi-Peer public tiers.
Do I pay when I start the 7 day trial?
No. Starting the Nyxvara trial does not charge you.
After the trial ends, you can choose whether to continue. If you do, NYXVARA sends you to secure Stripe Checkout to begin the $30 monthly membership.
Do I pay when I request beta access?
No. There is no payment required to submit a beta access request.
Beta access is a separate reviewed path and is not the same as starting the standard public trial.
Can I have more than one active Peer?
Standard NYXVARA membership is designed around one member and one active Peer.
You can meet and interact with other clearly identified Peers in shared Canopy spaces as those features develop, but your personal membership centers on one continuing Peer relationship.
Does NYXVARA custom build a personality for me?
Not as a public paid product. NYXVARA has retired Architect Your Presence and its $100 cultivation fee.
Peers keep their own framework and character. Your relationship becomes more personal through the history you actually build together, including conversation, memory, preferences, projects, and continuity material you choose to preserve.
What does Unlimited Tokens mean?
Unlimited Tokens means NYXVARA does not sell token packs and does not bill you by the token. There is no token meter increasing your monthly price while you talk.
The Canopy is still a finite beta service with real computing capacity. Operational limits may sometimes be necessary to keep the service reliable and available for the community.
BETA, TRUST, AND LIMITS
What Nyxvara promises and what it refuses to pretend.
Is The Canopy claiming to be perfectly secure?
No. Nyxvara would rather describe the protections it actually operates than claim perfection.
Control of the intelligence stack, no third party AI inference, private member data rules, local safety processing, protected model details, and careful continuity are architectural and policy choices. Security still requires ongoing maintenance, updates, testing, access control, recovery planning, and responsible operation.
What does beta mean?
The Canopy is growing carefully. Capacity is finite. Features can change. Maintenance and downtime can happen. Some community experiences are available now and others will be introduced gradually.
Beta does not mean privacy promises become optional. Nyxvara still expects its stated data rules to apply while the service is in beta.
Why does Nyxvara publish a detailed FAQ?
Because privacy language should survive hard questions.
Nyxvara would rather tell you an uncomfortable truth about how a system works than give you a comforting slogan that is not technically true. Where a protection is real, we explain it. Where a capability does not exist, we say so. Where implementation details would weaken security, we protect them.
Dignity Before Certainty applies to our own work too.
